About the Directorate

The Climate Change Directorate of the Ministry of Environment is the focal point, also called the secretariat, of Jordan’s GCF engagement. The Director of the Climate Change Directorate ensures all GCF accreditation nomination letters, readiness support proposals, and no-objection letters for concept notes and funding proposals, are aligned with national priorities, reviewed by the secretariat, and executed according to the current GCF templates.

The Climate Change Directorate was established in 2014 and consists of a Director, a Head of Mitigation, a Head of Adaptation, and a technical support staff of 3. It leads the coordination mechanisms regarding climate change activities in the country and the follow-up of UNFCCC agreements, protocols, communications, and actions. The Director of the CCD is also the Secretary of the National Climate Change Committee and coordinates and monitors its activities.
