As the national focal point for climate action and NDC implementation, the Ministry of Environment receives support from several international development agencies, intergovernmental institutions, and development finance institutions to mitigate and adapt to the effects of climate change. As the NDA for the GCF it plays a key role in coordinating and approving all requests for support from the fund and engaging national stakeholders and the private sector. The Ministry of Environment also coordinates with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation which serves as the NDA for the Adaptation Fund and Global Environment Facility for Jordan.

 

Climate change is a top priority for Jordan.  This has been communicated by His Majesty King Abdullah II on many global platforms including the UN General Assembly and Global Climate Conferences.  It has also been mandated by the Prime Ministry to be mainstreamed in all development planning across the Kingdom.
