Jordan Climate Action

The National Designated Authority (NDA) serves as the focal point between a country and the Green Climate Fund (GCF). It plays a key role in ensuring country ownership, the core principle of GCF’s business model. The Ministry of Environment is the NDA for the GCF in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Jordan is a developing nation that is becoming heavily impacted by climate change. Some negative impacts can already be seen such as an increase in temperature; expansion in areas affected by drought; loss of some natural eco-systems; migration and habitat degradation; deforestation; rise in the incidences of forest fires; fluctuation of rainfall; recurring heat waves; and a decrease in the amount of water available (groundwater and surface) as a result of the decline in water flows, which in turn impacts food security. GGGI and the GCF are supporting the Government of Jordan's call to action to address these challenges.
